Share Your Mother’s Day Haikus To the Costa Mesa Community

Blooms-in-California-desert-1200x854

This Mother’s Day is going to be a unique one; happening in about 3 weeks time on Sunday, May 10th.
Show your mom you’ve been practicing for her during the quarantine and write her a haiku!

What is a haiku?

A Japanese form of poetry consisting of 17 syllables, in three lines of five, seven and five syllables, traditionally evoking images of the natural world. The word is a contraction of the Japanese phrase haikai no ku, meaning “light verse.”

How to write a haiku:

Compose three lines that total 17 syllables
The first line must be five syllables, the second seven syllables, and the third five syllables again
Punctuation and capitalization is up to you
Haikus do not have to rhyme, and repetition of words is permitted

For those looking for a little syllable-counting assistance, WriteAHaiku.com can help.

Why haikus?

Haikus are the shorter-in-length sister of sonnets, verses and ballads, so sharing them on social media is easy, and giving your mom a special surprise won’t take up more than 17 syllables.

Give it a try and post yours in the comments!

We would love a chance to feature someone in our community.

Costa Mesa Real Estate Company Helping Local Hospital

Torelli 1 (1)

It was our pleasure to provide OC Global Medical Center, one of the few hospitals that takes in trauma patients with a fabulous catered lunch from Greenleaf Chop Shop.  When we think of front line workers we often think of doctors and nurses.  Behind the scenes there are a host of housekeeping staff, cleaning and sanitizing and keeping everyone there safe.  We felt it was time to honor those behind the lines with a lunch on us. The pictures we received were the best part of our day.

Normal days in real estate do bring so many smiles, paperwork, yes, and we were happy to be part of this experience as well.

Bringing you home, Costa Mesa and throughout Orange County.

Costa Mesa Makes It Official: Face Mask MUST Be Worn In Public

ca-times.brightspotcdn

Am I Wearing It Right?
Here is some info for you!

1. Face coverings can be made out of cloth, factory-made or hand-sewn, or improvised using bandannas, scarves, T-shirts, sweatshirts or towels.

2. The material should cover both the nose and mouth.

3. Be sure your mask is comfortable; you don’t want to have to keep adjusting the mask, because that means touching your face.

4.Wash your hands, or use hand sanitizer, before and after touching your face or face coverings.

We are all in this together!

A Poem to Ponder Today by Tyler Knott Gregson

download

Felt home there, but not
in a way I’d felt before.
Not home as comfort, not as
a place familiar, not home as
safety, not complacency or
contentedness, home in a new
sense, home undefined.
That place was a peace
unexpected, a soothing,
to the soul sickness I’d carried
all my life, that place was home,
but in a way I haven’t invented
words for, haven’t even learned
the vocalizations to.

Somewhere in the fog and grey,
in the green that wraps all things
and leaks into the red of your blood,
a question I didn’t know
i have always been asking
was answered.

Here, it whispered, the sound
hovering above snaking road
and hillside here, said soft
and slow in the heather and moss,

you are home.

Homes in Costa Mesa are Getting A Surprise

Even though people are on lockdown here in Mesa Verde and throughout Costa Mesa…it has been determined that the Easter Bunny is “essential”.
In that spirit and with complete respect for safety and today’s standard of care, the Easter Bunny will be doing a DRIVE BY, stopping for a wave to those homes that have signed up, and maybe bust a silly move or two.
Our annual Costa Mesas Egg Hunt that has never been cancelled in 35 years (yep, never even rained out) has become a family tradition in the Tanager Park area of Mesa Verde.  We had cancelled this event over a month ago when we became aware of the possibilities that events might be put on hold.  Valerie’s son who is living at ground zero in Italy had made us aware, weeks ahead of time that it would not be in the public’s best interest to have an event that can draw up to 500 people. We had some “advance notice” based on his experiences in very early March.  The funds that normally are going toward this event were sent to the hospital in Cremona, Italy for very needed supplies.
The nurses and doctors, who were and still are as of this writing working over 12 hour shifts, and do what they do out of love, were able to benefit.
We are are so grateful to be a part of the Costa Mesa experience.  A City We Call HOME.  The language of real estate is how we have a conversations, but our compassion and commitment to the Costa Mesa Community is our SuperPower.
